Dear all, I am Dr Deepak Kanabur, 2016 batch, debating for the motion “ Yes, e-learning is the need of the hour”.

I would like to offer my debate point on three vital issues that concerns all of us teachers and which we all struggle against.

1. We want our students to be interactive while learning and to freely ask their queries and doubts. Even though the students have many doubts, very few come forward to ask because of the fear that how others would look at it and laugh at them. This stumbling block can be very well overcome by the e-learning platform. Every student would have the safe environment to ask queries without being ridiculed.

2. We know that every student learns at her/his own pace but we are unable to find a way to address this issue in traditional setup. However, e-learning gives complete freedom to the students to proceed at their own pace.

3. We teachers have always seen how one student’s negative behavior and attitude becomes disruptive and affects the whole class. This kind of incident completely nullifies the teacher’s efforts and wastes the valuable time of both teachers and students. E-learning has no place for such issues where it is a controlled classroom environment.

Hence, for these issues to be overcome, e-learning is the need of the hour.
