Dear Dr. M Ramani maam,

1. Purchasing gadgets are not a one-time investment. As the technology upgrades, the support system changes and gadgets get outdated.

2. Many aspects of Assessment such as Attitude and communication skills, Professionalism, Empathy etc cannot be assessed online or is very limited.

I have a question.....

3. What if students get bored with e-learning methods with time?

Dear Dr Malatesh.

1. Definitely, there will be an e-moderator, but the freedom to interact and clear doubts are limited. Many a time students who are hesitant in class come out when they meet their mentor personally.

2. Many a times weather disrupts the connectivity of moderators side. With the best available technology as well. Rescheduling will lead to absenteeism and may lead to discontinuation.

3. How will you show Empathy when giving feedback? Feedback has many elements and it is difficult to discuss everything online. Time constraint is another factor.

4. Making module interactive for every session in e-learning is a cumbersome work, whereas in traditional teaching in the classroom can be made innovative and interactive as required and at any time.

5. E-teaching is for those people who are afraid of the stage and use Blackboard. There are much more chances of manipulation. Traditional teaching requires a lot of preparation, knowledge and skills.

I am IMRAN2016A batch putting up my views “Against the motion” – E-learning is waste of time and resources:

1. E-learning is a virtual learning method without a guide on your side.

2. Apart from many technical issues, learner’s satisfaction is least and therefore results in high dropouts from e-learning courses.

3. There is no immediate feedback and learner has to wait for the feedback from the teacher and make any required modification. This will steal the concentration and interest.

4. Poor quality of e-learning module will also be a waste of time and resources. For example, if participants play a passive role, meaning they are not required to do or say anything except watch or listen, is an incredibly ineffective way of educating. If learners aren’t required to think about or apply what they’re learning, then they’re not going to learn anything.

Therefore e-learning is just waste of time and money.
